Food at Wharepuke is a fully licensed Cafe and Restaurant offering Thai inspired and Modern European Cuisine.
The family run Restaurant is owned by Colin Ashton (chef) and Rachael Goldfinch, supported by Colin's parents Bill (chef) and Particia Ashton (front of house) and Rachael's parents Valerie (marketing/business) and Paul (restaurant organic gardener).
Colin won the Metro 's best dessert for 2008 whilst working as head chef at Passage Rock winery on Waiheke island. Originating from the UK, Colin has worked and travelled extensively, cooked on tour with Shania Twain and also The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
During the day the cafe serves a selection of homemade sandwiches, cakes, slices, salads, ice creams, hot and cold food all prepared (where possible) using the freshest, local northland ingredients some of which is grown organically onsite. At night the restaurant is casual but modern, serving eclectic European and Thai inspired food prepared using fresh seasonal, local, Northland, ingredients. Accompanied by a selection of local, New Zealand, and Australian wines, cocktails, beers, organic soft drinks, juices, teas and coffee. Food at Wharepuke can be able to cater for small weddings, private functions, events, catering and has a range of products for sale on site.
