Wharepuke Subtropical Garden Kerikeri
Our Bay of Islands garden covers 2 hectares. It showcases Robin Booths (Dip Hort) lifetime collection of rare and unusual plants. Wharepuke Subtropical Garden was recently awarded Garden of Regional Significance (2006).
Wharepuke Subtropical Gardens
Robin Booth has a special interest in aloe, agave, bromeliads, bamboo, orchids, subtropical fruiting plants and dry and humid climate plants.
The garden is open all year but guided groups must pre book.
Cuttings, seed or divisions are available for purchase.
Eco Tour 1 - Personal Tour by Robin Booth
- 2-8 people max
- An interactive tour that takes from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours.
- Look, taste, touch, smell and possibly take home cuttings or seeds.
Eco Tour 2 - Bus group tours by Robin Booth
8 - 25 people Duration about 1 hour.
Large bus groups are often divided into 2 groups. One group first having either morning/afternoon tea or lunch and then the garden walk.
Meals showcase unusual fruit that are grown on the property.
Eco Tour 3 - Self guided garden tour - walk
Duration 20 minutes to 5 hours.
Go at your own pace with a booklet about the plants that you'll see on your walk.
Visitors are encouraged to use Robins library for extra research.
